Eric Tuchman Writer/Co-Executive Producer
Seventh grade.
My English teacher, Mrs. Kahn (voice like Harvey Fierstein, face like a
shrunken apple) called me to her desk to discuss “A Cougar’s Life Story,” the
five-chapter saga I’d written about a courageous mountain lion. The good news? The writing impressed her. The bad? She thought there was no way a seventh-grader could’ve
written it. I think it was her
half-inspiring, half-insulting feedback that first made me realize I might have
a knack for this writing-thing.
Cut to LA, 1990.
I started out selling specs in the feature world, made a stop in
animation (ANASTASIA), moved onto independent and TV movies and my first
staff job on DR. QUINN, MEDICINE WOMAN, where I hold the distinction of
writing the episode when Dr. Quinn takes her one and only onscreen bath. From there, I’ve loved working in the
sci-fi and fantasy world on series like EARLY EDITION, MYSTERIOUS WAYS, and
most recently as the Executive Producer for the entire run of KYLE XY.
So where do you go after working on a sci-fi show about a teenage genius with no bellybutton? Why, to EUREKA, of course, a whole town full of geniuses (presumably with bellybuttons)! To me, EUREKA has it all. Great characters and emotion. Wild and wonderful mysteries. Big laughs. I’m so excited to join the amazing creative minds bringing you season four. Thank you, Mrs. Kahn, for helping me get here.
I was totally a fan of "Early Edition". That was an excellent show. I can't wait to see what you guys have in store for the new season of "Eureka".

My daughter and I were huge fans of Kyle XY. I'm sorry ABC Family didn't renew it, but I'm glad you're working with Eureka now!

I'm so disappointed that “A Cougar’s Life Story” was actually about a mountain lion.

Eric,
Good luck with Eureka. You may remember us (Lynn and Bob Gillen) from the set of Medicine Woman. We were working with Beth and Tim on a study guide for teachers based on the show.
We went on to teach media production to high school seniors, and have now published our own website for emerging filmmakers (www.thefilmmakerlifestyle.com). We're also writing web content for companies in the entertainment and media industry (www.gillenentertainmentcontent.com).
Again, good luck with your new show. Keep well.
Lynn and Bob Gillen

Today is too precious, should not worry for acid bitter and astringent regrets that way. The chin up, make thoughts, like ChunYang next leap springs. Seize today, it never comes back.

Personally I was very offended with a segment from the Christmas show. It shows very plainly with many camera shots a (presumably) orthodox Jew wearing a yarmulke milling around at the Christmas party. I have never seen this character in any of the other shows. I don't know why you felt it necessary to explicitly make the point that an observant Jew would attend a Christmas party. Most orthodox Jews I know, myself included, are very happy to have our friends and co-workers enjoy holiday parties without our participation. We find it uncomfortable and even against our religious principles to participate in Christmas rituals included attending parties.
