The Astraeus selections have been made -- with some surprising omissions and inclusions -- DOD relationship auditor Warren Hughes (Wallace Shawn!) returned, and we got to see some of our favorite characters long before they came to Eureka. Tune in at noon for the Season 4.0 finale, which will be followed by all seven of the Season 4.5 episodes so far, leading up to Monday's all-new episode at 8pm.

"Clash of the Titans" - Comment Post

Wallace Shawn on Eureka? Conceivable!

Love -- and poison gas! -- is in the air in "Clash of the Titans." Allison and Carter find themselves on the wrong side of some red tape, Henry and Grace take the next step, Holly and Fargo contemplate their next step, and Jo and Zane do the horizontal two-step (a lot). This week’s episode “Of Mites and Men” shows selection for the Astraeus mission getting downright mental.  This story, like last week's physical fitness training, was inspired by real qualification tests for aspiring astronauts… doesn't look like a picnic, does it? And of course who's locked up with you would make all the difference. Which Eureka character would you want to be trapped with in an isolation chamber? (We've exempted the characters who were tested in the episode -- Zane, Fargo, Jo, Parrish, and Holly -- they've suffered enough!)

Riding Off Into the Sunset--But Not Yet

 

UPDATE: Syfy has ordered an additional Season 5 episode! This 13th episode, airing in 2012 with the rest of Season 5, will be the series finale. We're excited to give the show -- and all you fans -- a satisfying ending. Read more about it on Blastr.

As you may have heard, Syfy has decided that Season 5 will be the final season of Eureka. Here's their official statement:

"After painstaking consideration, we have had to make the difficult business decision to not order a season six of Eureka. But Eureka is not over yet. There is a new holiday episode this December and 12 stellar episodes set to debut next year, marking its fifth season and six memorable years on Syfy. The 2012 episodes are some of the best we’ve seen, and will bring this great series to a satisfying end. We are very grateful to Bruce Miller and Jaime Paglia, their team of incredible writers, and an amazing cast and crew who have consistently delivered a series we continue to be very proud of. We thank the fans for their support of this show and know they will enjoy its final season in 2012."

And here are a few words from Executive Producer and Co-Creator Jaime Paglia:

Heartfelt thanks to all our Eureka fans for the incredible support. You're the reason we do what we do. It has been a privilege. We hope to be able to give you, the characters, and Eureka a proper send-off. We're doing all we can to make that happen. But whatever happens, you have a season and a half of fantastic new episodes to come through next year. It only gets better. All my thanks to our amazing cast, crew and creative team for their phenomenal work on these 76 episodes of Eureka. You're the best. 

There's been some confusion about what this means -- Eureka is NOT going off the air this year. There are still five more episodes in Season 4.5 this summer, an amazing new Christmas episode airing in December, and 12 more episodes in Season 5 that will air next year and are some of the best yet.

Thank you all again for your support over the years. We'll have more details soon.

We were so excited when the story idea that became "Omega Girls" first came up in the room!  Here was the perfect chance to put our own Eureka spin on a classic story: a man (or woman) alone in a fight against overwhelming odds.  Now that the episode has aired, we’ve chased down some of our favorite/infamous examples of the theme.  Vote for the one you liked the best!
