Wallace Shawn on Eureka? Conceivable!
Love -- and poison gas! -- is in the air in "Clash of the Titans." Allison and Carter find themselves on the wrong side of some red tape, Henry and Grace take the next step, Holly and Fargo contemplate their next step, and Jo and Zane do the horizontal two-step (a lot). And Titan is closer than ever-- too close, in fact. What did you think of the episode? Discuss in the comments!

I thought this was a great episode. I actually think they're all great episodes when you come right to it. I love Allison and Jack. They deserve to be together and my question is, when Allison goes back to being Medical Director instead of Head of GD, will that make any difference? Will they still be red flagged?
I love Fargo and Holly. That is the sweetest relationship. It's poetic justice for Fargo that in this timeline he's the boss instead of the lackey. His character has grown leaps and bounds.
Jo and Zane...hot tamales! They are so much fun to watch! Of course Henry's going to Titan, no question.
I live for Mondays and too I'm sad to know this will come to an end all too soon.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think there were any My Dinner With Andre references. Unless there was an extended scene in Cafe Diem which I missed.

I actually disagree a little bit. I think that the Jack-Allison relationship has been shown to be mature and adult in a way that fits the characters. Them being crazy passionate the way Jo and Zane are wouldn't work for them, and would make them seem out of character. Let's also remember that Jack and Allison have been good friends for years before they got together,so of course the vibe is different. I like to see them defending each other, and I can't wait to see them fight for their relationship (as they are bound to). Don't worry, kiddies.

First thing is a plea to the network : Please play the Pilot before you air the Finale.
Last night was ok. Why didn't someone bring the little guy to see his mother.
And last is all on me. The whole thing of watching the last episodes just set me on the blue side.

@Jules, the reason why their relationship seems more "mature and adult" as you say is because the writers made them that way from the very beginning, which is my whole point with being disappointed in how their relationship is portrayed. From day one, Jack has been portrayed as this little sick love puppy running behind Allison who never seemed to know which man she really wanted, Jack or Nathan. She teased both of them and at one time, flirted with Grant as well. She clearly was attracted to Nathan and Grant's intelligence and to Jack's kind heart and nurturing spirit. It never seemed that she had too much physical chemistry with any of the men, except for a few brief moments with Jack. All I'm saying is, just because they are mature adults doesn't mean they have to lack passion. Jo and Zane don't have passion because they're younger, they have passion because the writers gave them the freedom to do so, which they could have done for Jack and Allison. If we wanted to just see them as "best friends" who are always there for each other, then that's how the writers should have kept them, as "friends" and allowed them to have other partners that they could show passion for. Instead, we are teased just as the real actors are teased with a "so called relationship" that lacks fire and excitement. After awhile teasing gets boring, and your attention moves on to something better. I just hate to see wonderful characters/actors who had the potential to have great chemistry fizzle under lack of imagination from their creators.
There have been other shows that have had their main characters go back and forth before they're finally united with more chemistry and opportunities for passion than these two and just because it's science fiction doesn't mean that the entire story has to built on the technology and not the human relationships. Good Lawd, even William Shatner's Captain Kirk had more passion in Star Trek with various guest actresses than these two.
At least let them have passionate kisses. Sometimes when they kiss it almost seemed like one of them must have had purple onions or something equally as pungent for lunch and they really didn't want to connect. Where as with Jo and Zane, there must be a lot of peaches and cream coming out of those lips because they're stuck like glue. I'm in my 40's, and I would hate to think that because I consider my partner my best friend that this would also mean that our intimacy was more like sisterly love than red hot passion. Age, familiarity, doesn't have to equate to lackluster.

I love Eureka and have been a huge fan since the beginning of time. Jo and Zane are the "it" couple for me, I like the other couples, and also enjoy their storylines but not as much as J&Z. And to be honest, I'm more than a bit frustrated at how little progress they are actually making. Even Fargo "manned up" and talked to Holly about what he was feeling - why can't Jo and/or Zane (preferrably both) do that? Three more episodes to go and I'm beginning to dread that those of us on the J&Z ship will be hung out to dry and left at the end of this season, holding a proverbial bag of "will they or won't they" again.

First of all, I saw the Twitter feed about the end of Jack's office and Henry's Garage. That is sad. It's like desecrating a national landmark!
Last's night episode was good, but I agree with those who are wanting Jack and Allison to make some sort of commitment. Wallace Shawn made a great nosy guy! What I would like to see before the series end is: finish up the Beverly plotline, a commitment between Jack and Allison (preferably marriage), get rid of Holly (annoying and maybe too quirky for Eureka, and obviously too devoted to the Astraeus mission), at least one more appearance by Taggart, and more of other characters that really make the series- Zoe, Vincent, S.A.R.A.H., Kevin, etc. Also I hope season 5 is not split in two- with only 13 episodes, its just ridiculous. Sorry if that seems like alot, and I hope that some of these things come by the finale.

Kashuallady: Wow, after reading your posts I can tell that you are definitely passionate about Jack and Allison NOT being passionate, or at least not passionate enough. And while I absolutely respect your opinion, I have to disagree. The only reason I drew attention to the lack of kissing between Jack and Allison in this episode was because it was in the promo . . . otherwise I think that looks which pass between the two at times are 100 times better than watching two characters, whoever they might be, go at it overtop a desk. Sure, Jo and Zane have a fiery spark, but that doesn't necessarily make me care about them so much as a couple. Honestly, I thought them a better "couple" back in season 3 when Jo was bringing Zane hot soup in the infirmary . . . but that's just my opinion.
Despite whatever plot may, or may not be happening at the time, I think that the writers really know their characters (as they should!) and have stayed true to each's individual personas. In other words, writers, you're doing it right. That's not to say that I wouldn't tweak a few things here or there if I had THE POWER . . . but I don't. So instead, I am resigned to simply sit back and let you entertain me. For the most part, just so you know, you do not disappoint. Thanks : )

And after reading Chris's post, I'd like to add something that I would like to see before the end. In addition to Taggart reappearing, what about Lojack? Does anyone else miss or even remember Lojock, the dog, 'cause I do. What happened to him? Or, whatever happened to the twins who use to walk, or drive, up and down main street all the time.
I just think it would be fun to see them back . . . before the end : (
P.s. What is the point of being able to preview your post prior to it being posted, if it doesn't give you the option to edit?

@Javadreamer, I share your dread about the Jo/Zane ending for Season 4.5.
What's so frustrating to me is that in many ways their relationship is being written so much better in the new timeline. But, in this case, its the same old passive-aggressive, juvenile crap as always.
I get that this Zane was a committment phobe womanizer when Jo met him. I get that she's probably scared to get close emotionally in case she gets hurt again. But, watching two adults dance around the issue and use sex to keep from having an honest conversation is not entertaining in the least. Its irritating and frustrating.
And, what happened to Zane's determination to show that he's worthy of going to Titan? NOW that he's free to go, he's all of a sudden going to leave Eureka?? This writing is giving me whiplash!
If I want to watch a soap opera, that's what daytime tv is for. IMO, the relationships on Eureka should just be a "given." In the background, but NOT the story itself. Too much soapy "will they-won't they?" crap just takes away from the fun quirkiness of the show.
Not to mention, after a while you just get tired of being jerked around and emotionally distance yourself from a show that does that to you. I guess now that SyFy has cancelled Eureka, they don't care if the viewers stick around to the end or not. But, I'd really like to look back with fond memories and be able to rewatch the dvds instead of never wanting to think about it again since the couple that made me watch is ruined.

@seashore56, I feel ya! I feel the same way about Jack and Allison.

@seashore56, @kashuallady - I totally agree and kudos to how well you articulated it.

I was totally disappointed with this episode. I'm a big Jack and Allison fan, and I love how they are written. I don't want them to be like the other couples because the other couples don't interest me. I am not the least bit thrilled having to watch a "job" be the reason why they can't be together.
The only bright spot in the entire episode was Henry and Grace.

Loved the episode as usual, but was I the only one scratching my head that Carter and Allison had to have their relationship approved, their relationship makes us confuse.
