Questions? Comments? Seriously, how awesome was the last 5 minutes?
And, yes, we promise we're going to actually A some of your Qs eventually. It's just been hard to keep up as we're in the middle of producing the back half of season four. I'm sure you'll agree that putting quality product on your TV screens is more important than timely execution of Q&As on the blog... at least we hope you do. :-)

This is my favorite episode so far. I have enjoyed season 4 a great deal so far, but this is my favorite episode so far. I was surprised about Zoe and Zane but after about 1/4 of the show I kind of knew it was Zane. At the end when I saw a woman talking to Grant, I knew it was Beverly even before her face was shown. I squealed in excitement. I'm glad to see her back and wonder what she wants. I love all the Allison and Carter moments this season. I wonder what we have to look forward to this season with these two. They are one of the main reasons I watch.

Singing! Dancing! Intrigue! Romance! Danger! Heartbreak! Science! Smooching! And a totally unexpected (for me at least) twist at the end! A great episode chock full of awesomeness.
I'm not usually one to spaz out about such things, and I'm usually more of a lurker here at eurekaunscripted, but seriously, this was a great episode in what's turning out to be a solid season of an already solid show,

Holy merkins of Moses, stoned was AMAZING! I'd pretty much given up on the show after seasons 2 and 3, but you've won me back with season 4. I have nothing else to say other than keep doing what you're doing. I'm loving it.

When Jack finally made his move on Allison and they kissed, my jaw hit the floor. As I was picking up said jaw, boom! Beverly showed up. All that, plus Henry singing to Grace made for a wonderful episode.
I could have done without Zoe and Zane though, but I believe that was the point. It's just another kick in the gut for poor Jo. When is she going to get her life back? Henry has Grace, Jack has Allison, Fargo had/has Claudia, even S.A.R.A.H has Andy. Jo is left out in the cold. She doesn't even have her own home anymore.

THANK YOU!!!
On another note, the preview for next week got me thinking . . . Nathan and Tess in the same episode? and just when Jack and Allison are together? Hmm, seems suspicious to me. Could it be that they wont be flesh and bone bodies but some mind psychology-thingy going on similar to what we saw in 'Games People Play'? I'm just saying it could be subconscious fears or something like that being played out by Jack and/or Allison as to what either would do if their ex's ever showed up. Am I right? Probably not. Do I care? No. Why . . .
'Cause that's why I love you Eureka! You've always got me thinking ahead - thinking what might be possible - and thinking what turn the show might take. And if and when I'm wrong or on not even in the same ballpark? It doesn't matter because Eureka continues to NOT disappoint.

p.s. I really don't like the intro/catch-up being played at the beginning of every episode. It'd be cool every once in and while, like after a couple week break let's say, but otherwise it's kind of just annoying.

Last night's episode... EPIC!!! I'm surprised I didn't wake up my daughter with all my whooping and hollering at the end! I loved it!!! I laughed, I almost cried, I was on the edge of my seat! I was shocked to see Beverly back! I can't wait to see what happens next week! Kudos to you, Eureka writers, for giving me what is probably my favorite episode to date!

Too lazy to type everything I said on the forum.....
In sum: Kiss scene was good, though that doesn't make Jack/Allison any more legitimate than it was before (not very). Also, why have Grant as a romantic opponent, if he loses literally in the first episode of competition? Now that it's happened, I feel any competition will be cheapened...
I would have appreciated NOT foreshadowing Zoe/Zane so obviously in the beginning of the episode, because I think they're an interesting obstacle for Jo/Zane.
Beverly coming back is awesome. I can't wait to see where that goes. I knew she was coming back at some point (or I hoped), but I can't deny feeling a little excited when I saw her. Love thinking about what could happen here.
Also, what Rhodeer said about the intro. Do not want!
Finally, the episode preview made me extremely pumped for next week. Do more previews featuring awesome characters so many of us miss!

This episode was the first one ever that motivated me to write down my opinion here. In short: a masterpiece.
Just prior to the Season 4 start I watched all previous three seasons in a one-week marathon. Thus with all of Eureka still fresh in my mind I can clearly see the shift that this series has made in Season 4.
Where previously the format was in almost every episode "A problem arises, at first innocent and funny, then escalating into a catastrophe, the brainiacs can't solve it, Carter comes up with simple-man-logic's solution, all is well.", Season 4 definitely changed that formula for the better. It was getting old anyway.
I like how the 'catastrophy/disaster'-story in every episode now takes a smaller part of the episode's duration and has been replaced with more onscreen time for character development. Because that's what Season 4 is all about: new and exciting character development. E06 Momstrosity did a very good job at that and this week's episode was even better.
Take Jack/Allison. Ever since the Season Premiere we knew it was going to happen. But we didn't know when. You may hate the fact that the two leads are getting together, but you can't deny the way it was done was formidable. The final scene between Jack and Allison was a masterpiece. I could feel Allison's fear over losing their friendship, it was perfectly in line with her character: a reluctant scared mother who lost so much that she is to afraid to become attached. And when Carter walked away after she said the "better we don't"-bit, I could feel the frustration myself. Although I was merely a spectator I could totally imagine what was going to Jack's mind at that moment. And when he turned around and kissed her, I could totally feel the relief. Allison wanted it, but she was too afraid to do it. And something in Jack's mind snapped, after all those years, to finally TAKE THE RISK. As a viewer, this scene totally immersed me. And from all the responses here and on the Syfy boards, everybody loved it. Even those who oppose the Jack/Allison idea can't deny the beauty of this scene. It was utterly perfect and this is what television is all about: immerse your viewers, let the character's emotions become theirs. A great, great job.. Joe Morton.
I won't elaborate on the rest of the episode as detailed as I described the specific Jack/Allison scene but in short I loved it. The musical-bit was wonderful. It totally grabbed everyone by surprise and was the funniest bit of Eureka I've seen all season! It was totally in line with the series' image of funny and quirky and I can't believe anyone disliked it. Also loved the nice cliffhanger at the end and the preview looks promising.
In conclusion: one might argue that this is sci-fi, not a soap, but that's irrelevant. There are countless forms of 'sci-fi' and Eureka was never intended to have a large focus on the 'technology & science' part like in BSG etcetera. It was always about characters and the community. About overcoming differences and accepting one another. And about fun. Lot's of fun. Season 4 does all of those things better than ever before. Lovely!

OMG best episode ending ever!! loved it loved it loved it!!!!!

Great Episode. Everything is finally coming together.
Beverly probably means this season's big bad is on the rise, Zane has finally twigged that something's up, we had the Eureka version of a Flash Mob and Zane uttered the words 'TARDIS blueprints'. Be still my geeking heart!
I know the psychological studies that show once someone had been assigned a "lable" it's hard to shake off but I'm really surprised how quickly everyone from the original time line has turned on Zane. Especially with Jack saying he thinks people are basically the same at heart and Jo confirming that he only gets in trouble for stupid things like pranks. He hadn't actually done anything wrong since they've known him but now they all call him selfish, stupid, a train wreck, immature, trouble, a jackass etc.
On the other hand, Allison cheated and nearly destroyed the town but she's still trustworthy and Grant tried to strand Jack in 1947, but he's date material! Way to write off one of your best friends, gang. Not cool.
I'm not really feeling the Jack/Allison thing but I don't hate it.
I still don't like Grant, but in a love to hate kind of way.
Not really feeling the Zane/Zoe chemistry either, but I can see why they'd work. She's probably one of the few people in town who doesn't expect him to screw up. However, I've always put him at about 28-30 years old and if he is that sort of age, dating a 17/18 year old is a bit skeevy.
I loved the Disco scene, I think Fargo missed his calling as a DJ! And Henry missed his calling as a singer.
I love the fact that Jo is having a firing range built in her basement!
Also, the talking statues were very freaky.
So, questions...
Will the therapy lady be back? I liked her.
Will Grant ever go back to his own time?
How old is Zane supposed to be? And everyone else, while we're on the subject.
Were the creepy statues inspires by the Weeping Angles at all?
Who is Zane's favourite Doctor?

RE: stoned people...how do they breathe? that one little niggling question distracted me.
Posted by: starfleetmom | 08/21/2010 at 10:04 AM
"stoned people...how do they breathe?"
I thought about that too. Only their skin turned to stone so while their rib cages couldn't expand, their diaphragm could contact, thereby squishing their abdominal organs and allowing the lungs to expand slightly.

please tell me Zoe finds out how hurt Jo is over Zane and stops liking him, its just heart breaking :(

AHOY, SPOILERS AHEAD........Ack! So much good stuff packed into just one hour!! Absolutely loved the singing, the dancing, the kisses! Jo's heartbreak was...okay, heartbreaking, I felt her pain. That said I love Jo's arc with losing Zane and even her house, because all of these tragedies have allowed Jo to show a more vulnerable side after years of playing it tough. Erica Cera has been amazing, and so has Jordan Hinson, who played Zoe falling for Zane as a now grown up Zoe noticing a very cute guy, as opposed to just a girlie crush. All the actors have done a fantastic job. And gosh I'm glad to see Allison and Jack's adorably awkward moments have progressed to even more romantic awkward moments. I was on pins and needles when Jack was confronting Allison about the kiss, and Salli did a great job of portraying Allison's fears and trepidation over sharing her true feelings with Jack. My favorite twist was Larry bringing in the bottle of wine; seemed so innocent and first and then uh-oh, a kick in the gut when you realize somebody knows who Trevor Grant is, gulp! Then BB showing up at the diner; whoa!
Great show, congrats to the cast, crew and Eric Wallace! Can't wait for next ep!
And I LOVE the intro's and how they change; Dr. Old Spice and the recap, Colin does a great with those, keep 'em!

OMG! We watch SciFi shows on Fridays in a group of usually around 6 or 7 people. We did a lot of shouting last night!
As soon as the first guy turned to stone, we started with the "Blink" references. So of course Zane's comment about TARDIS blueprints got a squee!
I want Zane and Jo together, but he became so bland towards the end of last season, it was like the whole spark was gone. He's back to being more fun now. But Zane/Zoe is awkward. She is pretty young for him. But it's not setting off the alarm bells the way that sort of age gap usually would. The characteristic that she describes as hot has to do with something he knows, not his looks. So I'm not totally against Zane/Zoe, either. Considering how reluctant TV is to handle other sorts of unconventional relationships, I'd be surprised to see them giving polyamoury a try, but if they did, it would be awesome!
The "She blinded me with science" bit was one of the most delightful things I've seen in ages! This Henry may not be Grace's Henry, but that doesn't have to stop them.
Then there was the Jack & Allison scene. We were all shouting at him to turn around! And the squees were loud when he came back and kissed her! Finally!
Boo! Hiss! Beverly! Intriguing, of course. This will be veeeeeeeeeery interesting.
And then the preview for next week! Nathan! Oh, yeah, that got loud in here! Oooh, can't wait 'til next Friday!!

OMG I APPLAUD THE WRITERS AND JOE MORTON FOR THIS EPISODE!!!!. Carter and Allison are FINALLY GOING SOMEWHERE. I have been a fan of theres from the beginnig and have waited so long for the moment to come.I always see there connection when they are in a scene together. So many times I just wanted to give up on the show because they would tear them apart everytime you think theres a chance. Dont get me wrong I LIKED the Allison/Stark/Carter thing and was devastated when she chose Nathan(even though I Love Ed Quinn)...and i even kinda lost intrest after season 2...but this episode squashed that ...
That scene was SO intense as she pushed him against the wall!!!..(i was going to cry and give up after she said we should stay friends)..
LOVED the Henery Grace dialogue...it added the comedy in between those tense moments.
Joe.....it hurts so much to see her get knocked back every episode with Zane....Zoe/Zane=WEIRD!!
Next episode is going to be AWESOME... NATHAN STARK IS BACK...LOVE IT!!! Beverly and Grant equals deadly sneaky duo.
This is definantly in the episodes i can watch over and over...!!!
One question i do have....Did Joe Morton really sing that part??
Posted by: pickles247 | 08/21/2010 at 01:59 PM
This is certainly the best season of Eureka so far!
I just gotta ask, WTF with the huge cinnamon roll? There has to be a story behind that, or are all cinnamon rolls in this universe large enough to choke a horse?
:-)

What an episode!! OMG!! Spoiler alert for the rest of this.
I was so shocked to see Beverly there at the end!! Beverly!! I can't believe it!! I don't think anyone saw that coming!! And Carter and Allison being together finally is so great, and one of those couples that you knew would be together, like Chuck and Sarah on NBC's Chuck and Fran and Maxwell on The Nanny. I didn't catch what they said Thurgood did to the skeleton. From what I gathered, he faked it. Is that right? And the Zoe and Zane relationship! I knew Zane was Zoe's new guy right from when she mentioned him. I feel bad for Jo, since she's suffering the most in this new timeline. You are really pushing the envelope this season!! The "Blinded With Science" scene was awesome!! Did Joe Morton actually sing? How Beverly knows Grant is very intriguing and I can't wait to see how it plays out. Was that Tess I saw in the preview for next week? This season of Eureka is undoubtedly the best yet. With appearances by Stan Lee and Ming-Na, and the resurrections of Stark and Beverly, this season is VERY EPIC and I can't wait to see what else is in store!! I hope the mid-season hiatus between episode 9 and the back 10 isn't going to be like last season. You writers are doing a terrific job for the show this season and congrats again on getting a fifth season. Syfy made a wise choice, in my opinion. This show is just awesome!! "Stoned" is an episode for the record books!!
Posted by: Chris | 08/21/2010 at 02:40 PM
Wow, Joe has more moves! That was so funny and cute!!! Poetry in motion indeed!
I loved the way Allison had Jack up against the wall.
Please, I was hoping though Tess wouldn't be back :( Maybe she'll wind up with Stark! Then they can both go off to... I always liked Stark, but Jack never had any real chemistry with Tess, imo. And Stark, watch out for his duds fashionistas! That dude can rock a designer suit!!!
I'd like to see the drycleaner woman, that Jack liked, come back. They were cute together. Why not give Allison some competition ???
And Beverly, she eats babies for breakfast, love her evil self!
Great episode! BUT, for me, it was too predictable that it was the spa spray that caused the problem...
Posted by: anna | 08/21/2010 at 03:27 PM
Heh, anna, I'd argue the exact opposite. I personally believe there was a lot more chemistry between Tess and Jack and Jack/Allison. We'll just have to agree to disagree.
I'm extremely nonplussed about Jack/Allison. One good kiss scene really doesn't make up for a lack of anything resembling tension or romantic interest in Season 3 and most of Season 2.
Putting Tess and Stark together would just make me really sad. I'd prefer them as romantic obstacles to Jack/Allison. Otherwise, it's a waste of 2 awesome characters, imo.
In other news, I am drowning in the amount of exclamation points in the comments section. It's nuts. Y'all need to stop popping those red bulls....
Finally.....namesake, get a new name! :P
Posted by: Chris | 08/21/2010 at 03:36 PM
Oh, and since this is after all still a Q&A post (although everyone uses it to 'review' the episode, which is totally fine by me :P ), I have a question:
How did you create the stone-versions of the various characters? Did you use some kind of styrofoam or something or was it all CGI? The part where Zoe "returns to normal" is definitely CGI ofcourse. In any case, great job on the models, they looked wonderful!
Posted by: Barrie | 08/21/2010 at 04:28 PM
Applause to Joe Morton! Got add some kudos for him for directing this ep; let's team up Joe's directing with Eric's writing more, please!

The last 5 mins werent just awesome, it was FREAKING FABULOUS!! And I love how Allison seemingly unleashed her passionate side and pushed Jack against the wall by kissing him!!
Interesting though, I cant help but wonder, will she still call him carter or will she call him jack from now on? what do you all think?
